EBC Code of Honor
As a member, I will
- Engage in building relationship with other members
- Listen to others and seek to understand
- Seek and welcome differing points of view
- Honor differing belief systems and backgrounds
- Welcome feedback and maintain a learning mind
- Be a person of my word, including honouring the commitments I make to other members. In the event I can’t make my commitments, I will be be in communication and renegotiate.
- Honor, accept, support and encourage others
- Keep the membership and good of the organization first and foremost
- Generate fun
- Honor confidence
- Share my skills when appropriate
- Be timely and stay on track
- Forward the conversation
- Forward the vision
- Be present mentally and physically
- Have the courage to speak when I see or feel that something is off
- Ask before giving feedback or coaching
- Provide feedback with compassionate honesty
- Focus on the positives
- Manage my own emotional state and intentions
- Share meaning and offer definitions
- Forgive quickly and easily
- When asked for support, give an honest yes, no or counter offer (not do it out of obligation)
- Be gracious when receiving a yes or a no to a request and know that it’s not personal
- Make it easy for others to support me (e.g. providing swipe copy and reminders of campaigns)
As a member, I will not
- Make inappropriate or premature asks (asking before a relationship is built)
- Focus on selling to other members
- Be a know-it-all or coach without permission
- Put down others, complain, backstab or gossip instead of going to the source
- Use poor listening skills such as interrupting, rolling my eyes, sighing, etc.
- Blame or hold grudges
- Discuss EBC business outside of the EBC
- Speak to hear my own voice
- Disrespect myself or others
- Be inauthentic
- Play politics or have hidden agendas
- Disrespect the privacy of other members (e.g. no subscribing without permission)
